WMVAmerica in 2013: How Shifting Demographics and Changing Attitudes are Transforming Communities
America is a diverse nation with an ever evolving value system. How do Americans really feel about where they live and what do they want from their communities in the future? What are the implications of changing attitudes towards housing, transportation, and community for developers and policy makers?

To help answer these questions and others, ULI is pleased to present America in 2013: How Shifting Demographics and Changing Attitudes are Transforming Communities. This webinar, which is open to ULI members and non-members, is presented jointly by ULI’s Infrastructure Initiative, Rose Center for Public Leadership, and Terwilliger Center for Housing

ULI’s recently released "America in 2013" survey, a joint effort by the Infrastructure Initiative and Terwilliger Center for Housing, indicates there is a strong demand for infill residential development that offers compact, mixed-use amenities with access to reliable transit. These survey findings reinforce previous case study findings of what is happening nationwide with suburban redevelopment efforts and in Shifting Suburbs report published by ULI in 2012. During this program, you will:

  • Learn about the major findings of new ULI survey defining American community preferences, "America in 2013;"
  • Discover how transportation policy and practice shifts are playing out at the state level;
  • Explore how savvy developers are responding to shifting market demand; and,
  • Hear about new policy recommendations for changes in federal real estate investment from Smart Growth America

Please join us for an enlightening program featuring Rachel MacCleery, senior vice president, Content, who will present the findings of the "America in 2013" survey and the connections to the Shifting Suburbs report.  Following Rachel’s presentation, a diverse panel will respond to the survey findings and discuss how policy initiatives are developed in public-private partnership to understand and address market demands.

Panelists will include: Brian Allan "AJ" Jackson, Managing Partner, EYA;  Gene Conti, former Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Transportation and a 2010-2011 Daniel Rose Fellow; Ilana Preuss, Vice President and Chief of Staff, Smart Growth America.
